Title: Registered Occupational Therapist

 

Report To: Director of Special Education

 

Length of Contract: Negotiated School Calendar and In-service hours per the current Master Agreement

 

Employment Status: Union, Part-time, Exempt

 

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor Degree from a nationally accredited occupational therapy program
  2. Possess a current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Program
  3. Driving may be necessary for this position which would require a valid driver’s license.

General Description: Identify, assess and participate in planning occupational therapy programs for special educations students. Determine and facilitate appropriate activities designed to maintain functioning within an educational setting or prepare students to function with maximum independence in the community. Consult with families, teachers, care givers, and others to help facilitate the child’s growth and development within all of the environments in which children live. Provide direction to Occupational Therapy Assistants.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide accurate assessment of a student’s level of functioning in the physical, sensory, or adaptive environmental areas.
  2. Provide direct service or supervision of direct services to students receiving occupational therapy as recommended by the IEPC.

  3. Provide consultation and in service to teachers, parents and other appropriate personnel.

  4. Serve as an assigned member of the multi disciplinary evaluation team.

  5. Assess assigned students using established standardized evaluation instruments and techniques.

  6. Develop treatment plans containing annual and short term goals.

  7. Provide direct service based on the students IEP and subsequent treatment goals

  8. Monitor and supervise other persons involved with the implementation of the occupational therapy programs. Maintain documentation of each visitation.

  9. Provide teacher and parent in service to facilitate the achievement of the student’s annual and short term goals or to assist in adaptation of the student’s physical environment.

  10. Participate and assist in assigned screening clinics.
  11. Complete all required written reports and billings in a timely fashion.
  12. Develop appropriate assistive technology plans as requested.
  13. Must have regular and reliable attendance.
  14. Other similar duties as assigned.

  3. Ability to carry out other associated duties as assigned by administration

Additional Working Conditions:

  1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluid and tissue.
  2. With reimbursement, may be required to use personal vehicle to perform job related functions.
